Flock + AI-powered cameras

Why we should be concerned?

I think we all by now understand that AI (artificial intelligence) is not the solution when it comes to understanding humans. It often makes errors, and when you combine those errors with a deadly police force, it's a recipe for disaster.

Flock Systems

Flock is advertised as safety! They appeal to law enforcement by falsely claiming that it reduces crime. Nationwide crime rates have already been on the decline.

Their systems have capabilities to integrate with already established security cameras.

This is a dangerous precendence and a huge violation of our fourth amendment rights.

Flock promises to not sell your data, but their contracts sing a different tune:

"Flock may access, use, preserve and/or disclose the Footage to law enforcement authorities, government officials, and/or third Parties, if legally required to do so or if Flock has a good faith belief that such access, use, preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with a legal process or request; (b) enforce this Agreement, including investigation of any potential violation thereof; (c) detect prevent or otherwise address security, fraud or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property or safety of Flock, its users. a third Party, or the public as required or permitted by law, including respond to an emergency situation. Flock may store deleted Footage in order to comply with certain legal obligations, but such retained Footage will not be retrievable without a valid court order."

We do not currently have the safeguards to protect ourselves from Flock or other AI-powered surveillance systems. It's time we push our representatives to adopt these 12 Commonsense Safeguards. Reach out to us via email:[email protected] or Join our Signal Chat for more information. If the Southern Tier is not home for you, still reach out, we may have resources to connect people to their local deflock groups!
